Machiya Posong
Machiya Posong, part of the Japanese Dormitory Complex in the MInquan Village in Taitung City, consists of a group of wooden dormitories built around the Shōwa era. These buildings primarily served as residences for faculty members of Taitung Middle School and the Girls' High School during the Japanese colonial period, with some also housing administrative officials. Today, they are being revitalized as a cultural and tourism destination of Beichō, Taitung.
The former dormitory complex has been transformed into Machiya Posong as a unique lodging space, featuring standalone Japanese machiya townhouses and a design youth hostel. From traditional wooden structures to intricate tatami details, the restoration pays homage to cultural heritage by preserving the classic aesthetics of Japanese architecture while incorporating the comfort and design of modern accommodations.

At Yuciren Waffle Beichō Taitung branch, the nostalgic waffles are perfectly blended with local flavors to create a unique taste exclusive to this land. In addition to the classic original flavor, we proudly introduce the Taitung-exclusive Red Oolong waffles, infused with the aromatic tea from Red Oolong Cooperative. Crispy on the outside and fragrant on the inside, they come with layers of delicate tea aroma unfolding in every bite, offering a perfectly balanced sweetness.
We use toxin-free eggs from local farmers, fresh Taitung milk, and a specially developed flour blend. Every waffle is freshly made on-site to preserve its pure aroma and dense texture. Kitamachi Donburiya
At Kitamachi Donburiya, a steaming bowl of donburi delivers the comforting taste of happiness. From the fresh and delicate sashimi donburi to the rich and flavorful katsuo isshō donburi (rice bowl with skipjack tuna shavings), every bite is a true Japanese culinary delight.
Nestled in a traditional Japanese wooden house, the restaurant offers not only classic donburi dishes but also Taitung specials, perfectly blending local ingredients with Japanese craftsmanship to create a unique harmony of nature and cuisine.

1. By Car
From Taipei/Kaohsiung: Take Provincial Highway 9 (Hualien-Taitung Highway) towards Taitung City. Once in the city, follow GPS navigation to reach “Kitamachi Japanese-style Dormitory Complex.”
